Michael is an Associate Attorney with Kirby & McGuinn. Prior to joining Kirby & McGuinn, Michael was the Director of Finance at a civil litigation and transactional law firm based in San Diego. As Director of Finance, he worked with the firm’s corporate clients to resolve national and international business and tax issues.
Focusing his practice on civil litigation, Michael represents lenders, mortgage servicing companies, creditors, and fiduciaries in litigation, complex bankruptcy, and foreclosure defense. Michael has experience in corporate governance, non-profit entities, labor and employment, and commercial litigation.
Before law school, Michael worked with two of the top ten title companies in the nation, where he held positions in the loan closing and accounting departments. Michael handled a myriad of loan closing issues related to chain of title, subordination, and escrow disputes.
During law school, Michael was a teaching assistant for Legal Writing and Analysis with Professor Judith Teeter and assisted the International Vis Moot team with the 25th Willem Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot competition, where Pitt Law placed in the top of 32 out of 357 law schools. Michael also worked for the University of Pittsburgh’s Athletic Compliance Department, where he advised NCAA Division, 1 staff on rule interpretations and recruiting practices. Michael gained invaluable trial experience while clerking at Allegheny and San Diego Offices of the Public Defender, where he defended felony adult and juvenile cases.
Outside of work, you can find Michael enjoying time with family and friends, riding his motorcycle, and exploring reefs along the pacific coast.
